Wise Talk: Sentencing To Seek #Justice4Naledi
Many will remember the 2019 hashtag, #Justice4Naledi, after the gruesome and premeditated murder of Naledi Phangindawo. The man who viciously hacked and stabbed her to death was sentenced to a 15-year prison stay without clarity on whether or not Obed Leshoro would be eligible for parole. This contravenes President Cyril Ramaphosa’s commitment to perpetrators of such grievous crimes being sentenced according to the maximum legal prescription and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
In this episode of Wise Talk, Brenda Madumise-Pajibo and Onica Makwakwa discuss the case of Naledi Phangindawo. More specifically, they discuss the implications of Obed Leshoro, the man that killed her, only being sentenced to 15 years in prison.
