Fund The Fight, A Campaign To End GBV

Every day, women around South Africa contend with the risk of losing their lives for something as simple as being a woman. The rate of gender-based violence in South Africa is alarming, making it a national state of emergency negatively impacting women, girls, and some members of the LGBTQIAP+ community. It is for this reason that we need to fund the fight against the scourge of GBV in South Africa.

The Wise Collective sought to contribute to the fight against GBV by founding Wise 4 Arika. A non-profit organization aimed at empowering women. One of our experiences has been assisting victims of gender-based violence in legal settings. The prevalence of GBV is partly due to the perpetrators of these grievous crimes not being scared that the law will work against them and punish them. It is for this reason that we assist victims in pursuing criminal cases against perpetrators.

Navigating the legal system is not only difficult, but it is costly. Hence we’ve introduced the Fund The Fight campaign in association with Global Giving to bankroll the pursuit of justice against perpetrators of gender-based violence. Our goal is to raise $ 6,000 (approx. R 101, 000). Donations will assist with a variety of items, such as transportation to and from court, drafting certification of legal documents, psychological evaluations for victims, and much more. Individuals can donate once-off, or commit to a monthly donation.

The work to end GBV requires all of our efforts and resources. We have committed to guiding the victims of assault through the court system, but we need support in this effort.
