2019 Wise 4 Afrika Campaigns
Establishing Consent
Consent (n.): permission for something to happen or agreement to do something.
In order for any sexual interaction to take place, there must be consent. Without consent, sexual contact is assault. Consent cannot simply be inferred, assumed, or presumed, it must be given clearly. "Yes" is the easiest indication of consent, otherwise, any positive response to the question "#IsItOK" will suffice.
#wiseConsent (Part 2)
Today marks the beginning of 16 Days of Activism 2019, a South African government initiative to engage the subject of violence against women and children.
Where The Wise Collective is concerned, all 365 days of the year must be geared towards ending the scourge of gender-based violence. If individuals respected the concept of consent, the widespread prevalence of GBV and femicide would be less devastating. It is for this reason that The Wise Collective has debuted the second video of the #wiseConsent campaign.
The first half kicked off on August 2019. The second half continues the exercise of defining consent and encouraging individuals to practise respecting it.
