Advocacy: Inadequate Sentencing In GBV Cases

Naledi Phangindawo was gruesomely murdered by Obed Leshoro, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his crime. This contravenes the promise from President Cyril Ramaphosa that perpetrators of GBV would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Advocacy Letter: Conduct of Presiding Officers in Gender-Based Violence cases, 1 June 2020

The systematic failure of justice personnel continues to put women and girls at risk of violence and prevent access to justice. Perpetrators of gender-based violence must account. The conduct of Magistrate Michelle Henderson is brought to your attention for urgent consideration. A serial rapist, Siyabulela Mkayo walked freely out of the Alexendria magistrates court whilst facing rape charges involving 7 women.
Advocacy: COVID-19 Risk-Adjusted Strategy

Lockdown regulations have been slightly adjusted to include services for victims /survivors of gender-based violence consistent with the request we submitted. At the same time, there are other members of society that also need their work phased into the economy so that the workers currently able to operate can be supported.
Advocacy: Request For Adequate Leadership In the Ministry of Police
